As a basic rule of thumb, if it doesn't fall to at least your belt, the shirt is too short. Move the wrong way, and it's going to flash your belly at everyone.
The seams of the sleeves should rest just below the curve of your shoulder. If they lay halfway down your bicep, then the sleeves are too long. If they are above the shoulders, the sleeves are too short.
Significantly fewer casual shirts taper at the waist. This means you want a close fit throughout the torso so that the shape of your body won't drown in fabric.

Spread your legs evenly to maintain the trousers' position, then pinch excess fabric from the side seams towards the back to create neat pleats. Finally, close the button, smooth out any folds, and secure the tuck by buckling your belt for added grip.
