and then there are things you should own several of.

1. Watches
It starts innocently enough – you grab a watch that's functional and as you're wearing it you notice you like the look of it.
You find yourself wanting to bring in some new watches – ones you can wear in a more dressy situation.
Then you start to wear them more often. You start to get compliments.
The next thing you know you've gone off the deep end – buying the same watch in multiple colors, buying a watch to wear at the gym.
Finally you reach the point where your family's worried because you're spending as much on watches as you did on the down payment on your house.
Okay, this is a bit extreme. But if you can swing it, it's a great idea to own multiple watches – at least a sporty and a dressy model to choose from.
And watches aren't the only item a stylish man should own multiple of.
2. Fragrances
First and foremost, you should have a signature go-to scent.
People pick up on smells whether they realize it or not – and scent plays a key role in jogging memory.
It follows that memorable people use scent as a part of their personal brand.
If you've got that covered, grab other scents for the seasons.
In winter you want a warmer and heavier fragrance one that's gonna stick around.
For spring you might look for a lighter fragrance – something that has floral in it so you can smell fresh.
In summer you should still be thinking fresh, but you'll need a scent with a bit more staying power because fragrances evaporate faster in hot weather.
For fall, think of the vibes of the season – warm, spicy, and cozy.
3. Eyeglasses
Most guys only own one pair of glasses. Imagine if you were to change this up.
Suddenly your glasses become an accessory. They become something you can choose and calculate to add style to your look.
There's tons of options out there – you can go bright, you can go muted.
Or you can go with something that's just a slight variation from what you're already wearing, since you probably chose it to look good on you.
4. Sunglasses
The same logic applies to sunglasses. So many guys default to one style they've always worn versus exploring new variants on the same theme.
Check out my information on how to find the right sunglasses for your face shape and start exploring your options.
5. Dress Shoes
If your default is a black oxford Balmoral, you want to own two of those. Why?
If you rotate, you can give your shoes a day to breathe.
When you wear shoes all day – especially high-quality leather shoes – they're going to absorb sweat and moisture.
Letting them sit allows that moisture to evaporate and extends their life.
Buying a second pair of go-to shoes is also a great opportunity to bring in a second color.
But even if you buy an exact duplicate of your old workhouse pair, it will be an investment in the lifespan and quality of your wardrobe.
6. White Sneakers
And this means white – to rock sneakers without looking sloppy, they have to be clean. Cleaning your sneakers isn't hard – but it does take time.
If you have two pairs at your disposal, you won't get caught without a go-to casual shoe in between scrubs.
7. V-neck Sweaters
The V-neck sweater is the unsung hero of business casual – and beyond. It will work with pretty much anything.
Like with jackets, gray is one of the most versatile colors, but blue can also pair with a range of items.
Aside from those basics, you can bring in more color or a spare gray one to give you more mileage. They're great bases to build an outfit around.
8. Casual Button-Downs
When you find a cut and color of button-down that works for you, don't be afraid to buy two of them – particularly when it goes well with most of your other clothes.
9. White Dress Shirts
You want to have at least five white dress shirts in your wardrobe. Some of you guys may think that's too much, but here's the thing –
Your style evolves but you'll always have use for a crisp white shirt.
You can dress it up or you can dress it down.
For example, you can vary the fabric. Try one in a twill – it's a little denser than the most common dress shirt materials.
You can get one with French cuffs or one with a contrast collar, or buy lighter ones for summer.
There's a whole universe of options out there.
10. Lightweight Jackets
Lightweight sport jackets are great for layering, but that's not even their biggest selling point.
They can build up your shoulders and slim your silhouette.
They'll even make your hands look bigger and stronger if you get one that's tapered on the sleeves.
