Luxury is synonymous with the terms “unnecessary” and “elusive.” We're talking items that are just too rich for our blood. Why would you ever buy luxury items for men?
It's true that many such items are mere frivolities that aren't worth your hard-earned cash. However, there are some diamonds in the rough that you should look into. Today, I'm highlighting what those are.
1. Men's Dress Boots
I want to start this list off strong. If there's anything that you should dump money into, it should be a pair of solid men's dress boots.
Boots are among the most versatile items in menswear. They offer style, durability, and versatility in one package. They function mainly as a way to elevate your casual game, and there are tons of ways to go about it.
Let's take Chelsea boots, for instance. They're so sleek that you could even get away with putting them on alongside a casual suit. Chukka boots, on the other hand, are a little more rugged. They look great with essentially any casual combination.
Those are just two of my favorites! As far as construction goes, settle for nothing less than full-grain leather or suede. Look for Goodyear welts or Blake Stitching if you want to be able to replace your soles down the line.
2. Quality Cashmere Sweater
I bet you were expecting a super-expensive watch early on (Don't worry, that's coming).
First thing's first, what is cashmere? It's a fiber harvested from cashmere goats found in Central Asia – mainly in Mongolia and China. The double-fleece in their coats is the result of evolution in harsh climates. There's an outer layer that protects the animals against water along with a fine inner layer that aids them with insulation.
High-end cashmere can be expensive… but worth it if you're in the cold.
The material is often considered to be better than wool because of its superior insulation properties. The texture is also much finer, which lessens the probability of itchiness. It retains its shape better over the years, making it a timeless material!
Though while 100% cashmere can seem alluring on a tag, don't be fooled! Not all cashmere is quality. Be sure to pay attention to the length and girth of the fibers as those play a significant role in the overall quality of the garment. The closer to 42 mm you get, the better.
3. Signature Scent That SCREAMS Sex Machine
Once again, we're hitting on the fragrances. The right fragrance can say a lot about a man – first and foremost being that he cares about how he smells.
Men's colognes range wildly in price though, and with so many available, it's tough to distinguish between cheap and expensive fragrances.
Brand names aside, it's usually a matter of the oils used. In pricier colognes, natural oils can be extremely expensive. Let's take jasmine for instance. It takes 2,000 pounds of jasmine flowers to produce ONE pound of oil for a fragrance. That gives you an idea as to how valuable these oils are and the labor that goes into them.
One expensive fragrance that's well worth the money is Creed by Aventus. At around $400, it uses nothing but premium ingredients. It was designed to embody the life and legend of Napoleon Bonaparte, and it resonates with a lot of men. Aventus has been defined as masculinity in a bottle!
4. Luxury Mattresses
This doesn't have to do directly with style per se, but it has everything to do with health. A nice mattress might seem expensive in the short run, but considering that we spend about 1/3rd of our lives sleeping, isn't it worth it?
A key feature to look for in mattresses is height. The higher the structure, the more weight distribution it has. Higher-quality mattresses should be very “bouncy” but quiet at the same time. If we're talking memory foam, then there shouldn't be any bounce at all.
5. Leather Briefcases
Few things scream professional like a briefcase. It's a timeless item that's been used for over a hundred years with few adjustments to the design. There are likewise several styles to choose from in this category.
As always, make sure to hunt down some full-grain leather. That stuff just gets better with age.
Let's run through the styles:
- Hard-sided briefcases are among the more classic styles. They're held together by some hard cardboard, aluminum, or plastic to stay rigid. No shoulder straps here!
- Attache cases are like hard-sided but slimmer and thus more formal in appearance.
- Soft-sided briefcases are self-explanatory. They have no frame, and as such are… well, soft!
6. Bespoke Suit
There's off-the-rack, there's custom… and then there's bespoke. These suits are nothing less than works of art. A bespoke is made totally from scratch – it can take any shape with any material.
Naturally, such a suit offers a flawless fit for your body. It's made just for you, after all! We're talking well over $2,000 for an entry-level bespoke garment, however, so be ready to throw down the cash.
7. Mirror-Clean Dress Shoes
Spare no expense here, gentlemen. Dress shoes are among the first things that strike a person about your outfit. Why skimp out on it? When it comes to your “workhouse” shoes as I call them, this is critical.
We're talking full-grain leather and Goodyear welt construction. For something like this, we're talking $250-$500. Trust me, it's worth the money!
8. Workhorse Sports Jacket
A sports jacket is a coat designed to be worn on its own without trousers to match. It's often a casual piece of menswear. If you get the right jacket, then you're looking at a go-to piece of equipment for countless situations.
Again, this is one garment that you won't want to go cheap on. As always, I advocate for natural materials. Going full luxury means you won't even settle for blends.
A sports jacket is the ultimate tool with which to upgrade your casual game.

9. Electric Toothbrush
These handy devices yield a myriad of benefits. According to a 2005 study, brushes that used automatic rotation broke down more plaque AND reduced more gingivitis than manual brushes ever could – both in the short and long term.
While you have to move a regular brush back and forth, an electric bush simply slides through your teeth and does the work for you. More elaborate brushes even come with different settings, as well as signals to let you know when you're applying too much pressure!
10. A Badass Watch
Just like with shoes, a watch sends a potent message of power and confidence. But where's a man to begin? Well, if you're going for a luxury piece, you can't get a quartz watch.
You need a mechanical (preferably automatic) watch movement. Quartz watches are more accurate, but they're much simpler and thus less expensive.
Mechanical watches are held up to be high-end due to the sheer craftsmanship involved in forging these timepieces. Prices here vary wildly – from hundreds to MILLIONS of dollars for a single men's watch! Choose wisely, gentlemen.
